We have some exciting news to report today as Hasbro and Paramount Pictures have hired ‘Fate of The Furious’ director Gary Gray to direct the upcoming live action ‘M.A.S.K.‘ movie. For the latest details on this check out the news below and share your thoughts AFTER THE JUMP!
According to Deadline, the latest is M.A.S.K., a movie based on the 1980s action figures and animated series. The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray has been tasked with adapting the project presumably once he’s finished working on the Men in Black reboot.
As the trade notes, “M.A.S.K. is an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, a task force led by Matt Trakker whose goal is to take out the criminal organization VENOM.” Apparently, Gray, Paramount, and Hasbro are now looking for a writer who will deliver a “contemporary subculture movie with a youth empowerment angle.” Well, that all sounds rather topical, don’t you think?
What led to Gray deciding to take on the project? Apparently, he’s interested in taking a vintage property and revamping it for a contemporary audience. With that in mind, we should probably expect to see a young, diverse cast.
