During the session, visual-effects supervisor Pablo Helman approached Bay with the latest version of Krang and told him, “So we’ve eliminated the tentacles… Is it too monster-ish?”

“He could have some tentacles,” Bay responded. “I just don’t want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus.”

In “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” lore, Krang is a citizen of Dimension X who was stripped of his body — reducing him to a brain-like form — and banished to earth. Once there, he allied himself with Shredder, the Turtles’ nemesis. Shredder went so far as to build Krang a human-shaped exo-suit. Krang’s primary goal is taking over Earth.

Directed by franchise newcomer David Green,”Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” is scheduled for release on June 3, 2016 and stars Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Johnny Knoxville, Tyler Perry, Will Arnett and more. Its predecessor, the first live-action “Ninja Turtles” film in more than two decades, was released last summer and earned $485 million in worldwide box office.
