If you love your Spider-Man friends and villains Sony Pictures is going to be providing you with some great new films. We reported earlier this month about the upcoming ‘Venom’ movie starring ‘Tom Hardy‘. Sony Pictures has now set an official release date for their upcoming film, ‘Silver and Black‘ which will feature the two Spider-Man universe vixens, ‘Black Cat‘ and ‘Silver Sable‘ for February 8, 2019. Check out the latest on this below and share your thoughts AFTER THE JUMP!
Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal will produce the film, which has a script by Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World, the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok) and a previous draft by Westworld‘s Lisa Joy-Nolan. Production on the film is gearing up to begin this fall.
Created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, Silver Sable made her comic book debut in 1985’s The Amazing Spider-Man #265. Hailing from the fictional European nation Symkaria, Sable is an expertly-trained mercenary whose company, Silver Sable International, funds a team called the Wild Pack. Although the Wild Pack was founded by Sable’s father, she herself becomes its leader.
Black Cat, meanwhile, dates back to 1979’s The Amazing Spider-Man #149. Created by Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard, Felicia Hardy is an expert burglar who has the ability to manipulate probabilities, effectively bringing bad luck to those around her. Also she was never explicitly referred to as such, Felicity Jones’ The Amazing Spider-Man 2 character was planned as an alternate version of Hardy.
Silver and Black along with the upcoming Venom film, featuring Tom Hardy as the title hero and Ruben Fleischer as director, will be in a separate universe from this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is contained in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
