G.I.Joe ‘Zartan’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost, Summer is cruising right along, I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as possible. 1984 was a nice year for G.I. Joe and it introduced a great cobra character, Zartan. Zartan was a pretty interesting character right from the get go. Not only did he need to keep out of the sunlight, he lived in the swamp, and he had the Dreadnoks under him. Zartan was one of those characters that appeared in a lot of cartoons. He was mysterious and that created a wildly popular character. He did not…

G.I.Joe ‘1994’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Today we are talking about 1994 G.I.Joe characters. Three of my favorites from this year are who I’m focusing on today, but feel free to add your own favorites. Star Brigade Space Shot, Effects, and Gears are 3 of my favorite characters from this year. 1994 was the year I graduated high school, so I did not know much about this year until I got back into G.I. Joe as a collector. I really loved the idea of the Star Brigade and I thought they could have expanded it, but these 3 were really cool original…

‘G.I.Joe 1983’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m checking out the 1983 G.I.Joe vehicles as a whole. 1982 proved to be a success to the relaunch of the 12 inch G.I. Joe line and a huge part of the success was the vehicles. 1983 was a great year and they stuck with some traditional vehicles based of real military vehicles. The APC is the G.I.Joe transport. This is just one awesome vehicle and still is popular today. This is more of a concept vehicle but still has a strong military feel to it. The Dragonfly was…

G.I.Joe ‘Sea Ray’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m checking out the G.I.Joe 1987 Cobra Sea Ray. This also was an air and sea vehicle. The interesting thing was it was one vehicle that split into 2 different vehicles. The front part was a sub and the back part was a glider. As a whole I guess I always considered this much like the Shark and it being able to fly or dive into the ocean. This came with the driver Sea Slug. I don’t remember seeing this a lot in the cartoon and I’m not sure…

‘G.I.Joe S.H.A.R.C.’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. 1984 featured one of the greatest G.I.Joe vehicles with the S.H.A.R.C.. What a great concept vehicle being able to fly as well as dive. This was a another staple vehicle that was used extensively in the cartoon. Although I know there are a lot of people out there who are not a huge fan of the Deep Six figure, but he was a marketing gimmick. Being able to put him in the tub and have him sink or float was a really cool play feature at the time. Perhaps…

G.I.Joe ‘Killer Whale’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

This week I’m going to dive into some G.I.Joe water vehicles. I’m going to kick things off with the 1984 Killer Whale. When this came out this was the largest G.I. Joe vehicle at the time. This was so awesome and I was able to get one second hand when one of my cousins gave me a bunch of his G.I. Joe stuff. Not only was this large but it could hold tons of Joes, and had many moving parts and different features such as depth charges, a huge front storage area, and it…

G.I.Joe Classified 6″ Scale Vehicles Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

The G.I.Joe 6 inch figures G.I.Joe Classified, are starting to trickle into retail. So far they look pretty cool. I always find that in hand is a much better way to assess figures as opposed to looking at an image. I do have some other 6 inch lines I collect such as Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. This scale just looks great. One thing that has always made the 3-3/4 inch line thrive are vehicles. So I’m wondering if there are thought of vehicles and can they manufacture vehicles that won’t take…

G.I.Joe Vehicles of 1982 Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Today I’m going to get into the G.I.Joe 1982 vehicles as a whole. Remember this was a pilot season for the 3-3/4 inch line and they were taking somewhat of a risk in producing vehicles for the figures. As a whole they hit a home run with every vehicle released that year. First the Mobat which I did an exclusive on earlier is one of the best tanks ever made. For the times they knocked this battery operated tank with real rubber tracks out of the park. Next the Vamp, another vehicle…

G.I.Joe ‘Road Toad’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost, Today I’m sticking with 1987 but a bit of an odd vehicle. The G.I.Joe Road Toad. This was an odd vehicle but it was one I had as a kid so I still love it. It’s a trailer, it’s a tow truck, and it’s a cannon. So it looks like this vehicle is designed to clean up damaged vehicles as it is called the Road Toad B.R.V. (battlefield recovery vehicle.) I love the tow option on this vehicle and the little side seat for the controls seems…
