The blue bus is callin’ us

I decided to write this in a Jim Morrison state of mind. Although he is an accomplished artist he was everything withthe Doors, and a poet without them. Ray Manzerek, John Densmore, and Rob Kreiger, likewise were just musicians with out Jim. In 1965 Morrison and Manzerek met and The Doors were born. It was an amazing ride to the top and Morrison gained most of the popularity of the band as lead singers often do. Most of there work was accomplished between 1967-1971 releasing 8 albums in that time. They were the first American band to accumulate 8 consecutive gold and platinum LPs. At the height of the Doors, Morrison spun out of control with alcohol abuse and run ins with the law. He died in 1971 at the age of 27 from drug over dose. In a time where many people are trying to figure out life and where they fit into it, Jim was over taken by not finding it and The Doors were abruptly halted.

I have always been passionate about The Doors and have become Jim in the car at times. 40 + years after the death of Jim their music has stayed as popular as ever, I here at least 1 Doors song every day on the radio and often multiple. What has kept The Doors sound so fresh that you hear the song over and over and it is always as good or better when you hear it the next time. I recently went through a bout were I was watching live performances of the Doors, and in todays modern Rock it is hard to find the passion that was conveyed from Jim into the mic and into the audience. He could captivate you and suck you in, and after they played a song for 10+ minutes, you wanted them to keep playing. The 4 members had such a wonderful chemistry and performed ground breaking sound for the time.

There have been many bands over time that a song or two have been good enough to withstand the stains of time, but few have had albums and multiple albums withstand it without fading away. The sound of the Doors has and will be here for quite some time to come. A couple of the band members tried to go on, and there have been several reunions of the remaining band members, but they have never sounded or performed the same since Jim took the call of the blue bus.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you’ll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
