THE POP EXPOSE ‘Gunsmoke’ By Mitchell Smith!

This week was a tough week me as my father passed away at the age of 79. I have not been able to see him because distance and Covid restrictions at the VA home he was in. Growing up one of his favorite shows was Gunsmoke. The show started on the radio in 1952 and became a long running TV series from 1955-1975.

I remember watching episodes of this with my dad about the old West. The major rolls were played by James Arness, Milburn Stone, Amanda Burke and Dennis Weaver. There were a number of actors who had minor rolls in Gunsmoke and went on to have great careers such as, Bert Reynolds, Jodie Foster, John Astin, and William Shatner to name a few.

The show was nominated and won a number of award including Best Action and Adventure series and many individual awards for best actor/actress and musical Compositions. It was one of those shows I didn’t really pay attention to, probably like my kids watching eighties shows with me today, but it is one that will remind me of my father and my childhood for the rest of my life. RIP Dad, you will be missed by many.
