Recently I started watching season 1 of the 1962 hit show The Beverly Hillbillies. This was a staple show of my childhood, but I have never watched it from the first episode straight through. The show was created by Paul Henning and starred Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett, Max Baer as Jethro, Donna Douglas as Elly May, and Irene Ryan as Granny. The show ran from 1962- 1971. The show started out in black and white and switched over to color in the mid sixties.
This show was just brilliant all around for me anyways. The cast was exceptional, each character was brought to life so well, and they all worked so well together. I have never heard anything bad about the cast, so I’m thinking this would have been a good time on set, even being together quite extensively, as they cranked out a lot of episodes in those days, 274 total in the shows run.
That’s a lot of time together but the cast seemed to gel and every episode was gold. The lovable hillbillies living in the lap of luxury and not even realizing it was an amazing concept for the time period and it worked so well the show is still being played today on TV and on apps such as Tubi where I found the first 2 season. This is a classic show that will be around for many years to come. Are you a fan of The Beverly Hillbillies? Sound off AFTER THE JUMP and let us know!
