G.I.Joe ‘Tactical Battle Platform’ Reviewed by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m going to take a break from figures and review one of the greatest midsize play sets at least in my mind. The 1985 G.I.Joe Tactical Battle Platform. This was not huge so this would reach many households and still be able to display without taking over a room. I did not have one unfortunately as a kid but I did pick one up as a collector. There are so many great features on this starting at the top with the helicopter landing pad.

This is great for the Dragonfly and for the modern Dragonhawk. There also is enough room to land a Sky Hawk or a Shark as well. Basically there are 5 mid stations two being the defense for the platform. One side is a cannon and the other side is missile defense. Both stations are really cool nothing to fancy, but ready to protect the platform at all cost. Next would be the crane station for hoisting goods onto the platform, again nothing to fancy but effective.

Next is the control station. I like this portion. It is full of detail but not cluttered. Plenty of room to have 3 to 4 figures in there doing different tasks. Last is the dock. A nice feature as it folds into the platform and folds out to receive ships coming in. There is a ladder that leads underneath the platform which there isn’t anything under the platform but this would be water and a great place to store a Devilfish or 2, a Shark, or other small water vessel. I like placing a Joe in a Devilfish and have them on patrol for a potential Cobra attack, perhaps by a Hydrofoil. Tomorrow I’m going to take a look into some Extreme figures. As always feel free to drop a line and share with us your thoughts about the G.I.Joe Tactical Battle Platform playset AFTER THE JUMP.
