During a special preview and Q&A for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy in London, Marvel Studios President and producer Kevin Feige surprised the crowd and did something unexpected, debuting some footage from the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron. RadioTimes (via CBM) was on hand to view the footage and wrote about the two minute sizzle reel.
The site reports that Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster armor, as seen in the previously-released concept art, was shown going toe-to-toe with the giant green rage monster. They described the armor as “Where his normal suit is sleek as a missile, this is bruising like a tank.”
Additionally, a scene with Scarlet Witch was shown wherein she was “fighting alongside Hawkeye on a ruined Italian street, but earlier in the reel both she and her brother were locked in fancy Perspex prison cells.” This is no doubt the scene being filmed when these set photos debuted online.
Finally the site brings word on footage of the Avengers Tower, which they say has “floor to ceiling windows, twin laboratories for Stark and Bruce Banner, and parking for supersonic jets. It’s reminiscent of the SHIELD helicarrier in terms of construction, with lots of shiny metal pillars.”
Though unconfirmed, it’s possible that Marvel Studios could screen this footage (or more) at their upcoming Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Check back here for our official live blog from the panel to find out!
Currently filming in London, the sequel stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Kretschmann, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. Written and directed once again by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron will open on May 1, 2015.
