Julia Garner Cast as Shalla-Bal in Marvel’s “Fantastic Four”: What You Need to Know
Julia Garner has been cast in the Marvel Studios film “The Fantastic Four,” taking on the role of Shalla-Bal, a character inspired by Silver Surfer. Garner, an Emmy-winning actress known for her roles in Netflix’s crime drama “Ozark” and the limited series “Inventing Anna,” joins the ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing).
The movie, directed by “WandaVision’s” Matt Shakman and scripted by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer, is slated to begin production this summer and is expected to premiere on July 25, 2025. Plot specifics remain under wraps, but sources indicate Garner’s Shalla-Bal will reflect a unique take on the classic Silver Surfer narrative. Garner’s career has been ascending, marked by critical acclaim and a growing filmography, including her recent project “The Royal Hotel” and upcoming roles in Blumhouse’s “Wolfman” and Paramount’s thriller “Apartment 7A.” She is represented by UTA and LBI Entertainment.
