Zack Snyder Fans, Rejoice: “Twilight of the Gods” Gets a New Teaser!

Zack Snyder enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Following the recent announcement of the Rebel Moon director’s cuts debuting on Netflix in August, Snyder’s highly anticipated animated series, “Twilight of the Gods,” now has an official release date. A new teaser released yesterday revealed that this Norse mythology-based epic will premiere on September 19, bringing an action-packed and visually stunning tale to the small screen.
The latest preview of “Twilight of the Gods” offers a glimpse into the series’ dramatic storyline, which spans from the gates of Hel to snowy battlefields lit by cracking lightning. With themes of love, loss, and revenge, the series promises a rich narrative brought to life with gorgeous animation by Xilam Animation under the Stone Quarry Animation banner.
“Twilight of the Gods” has been in development for some time, with the cast first announced back in 2021. Now, we finally have the official plot synopsis. The story follows Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, and Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), a fierce warrior and child of giants who saves him in battle. Their relationship blossoms into love, but their wedding night is shattered by a devastating attack from Thor (Pilou Asbæk). Driven by fury and a desire for vengeance, Leif and Sigrid assemble a band of crusaders for a daring journey through Hell and beyond, aiming to confront the gods and demons that oppose them.
This new teaser is the second look at Snyder’s series, following a brief sneak peek in Netflix’s recent animation sizzle reel. The teaser highlights the stunning environments and intense battles that await viewers, with Sigrid taking center stage. She is portrayed with a cold yet passionate intensity, as she and Leif fight through their monstrous foes in brutal fashion. Snyder has previously described Hoeks’s character as “this beautiful, very Scandinavian kind of cold but passionate character,” which is vividly brought to life in the footage.
The cast of “Twilight of the Gods” is impressive, featuring a talented ensemble including Rahul Kohli as Egill, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Jamie Clayton as Seid-Kona, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Thyra, John Noble as Odin, and Peter Stormare as Ulfr. Additionally, Jamie Chung and Lauren Cohan join the cast as Hel and Inge, respectively. This strong lineup sets the stage for Snyder’s first television series, with an “Army of the Dead” prequel series already in the works as his follow-up project.
Mark your calendars for September 19, when “Twilight of the Gods” premieres on Netflix, promising an epic adventure filled with mythological intrigue and breathtaking animation.
