CUSTOM ACTION FIGURES: 101 “Parts Swapping – Part 2” – Tighten Up Those Loose Limbs
By Rob Panick aka General Panick

Welcome back, customizing students! In this week’s edition of Custom Action Figures: 101, we’re going to talk more about swapping parts, more specifically about how to tighten up loose hands and feet when the peg is too small for the hole.

1

This process involves using super glue, so there’s a chance of messing up your figure if it isn’t done correctly. As always, I highly suggest practicing on a “beater” figure before you attempt this on a good figure.

2

Tightening up the hands and feet on a figure is really simple to do. Using a toothpick, apply a small dab of super glue to the inside of the hole that your limb’s peg will be fitting into.

Pop the peg into the hole, then begin rotating the limb around. Keep rotating the foot or hand for a couple of minutes until you feel it start to get tight.

5

Pause for a few seconds, then keep rotating it. Rotating the limb will allow the super glue to set, but it won’t glue it to the inside of the peg hole. I suggest spending a few minutes rotating and pausing to make sure that it’s tight, but not glued firm.

6

And that’s it! Too easy! Now your figure can be placed on a stand and posed, or have weapons placed in it’s hands, without worrying about the foot being floppy or the hand falling out.

7

As I’ve said before, and you’ll hear me say many times again, practice makes perfect! Keep learning, keep practicing, and don’t be afraid to try new things!
