G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILE CARDS FEATURING COBRA’S ‘HISS DRIVER’!

G.I. Joe HISS Drivers are listed as “HISS Driver” for their PMS and “Mechanical and Electrical Systems” for their SMS. Also states they are “selected from the best and most evil of Cobra Command’s thousands of yearly recruits”. Not sure if that means they spend some time as a Cobra Trooper first then get selected into the Hisstank branch once they have proven themselves?

If that is the case I would imagine it would be difficult for Cobra to fill their Hisstanks up quick enough due to attrition and needing their drivers to first prove themselves as a Trooper. That and the rank of O-5 would seem like it would take ages to accomplish. An O-5 in the US military equivalent is a Lieutenant Colonel (for three of the branches anyway).

Usually an officer in the US military would need to serve a minimum of 18-20 years to achieve that. Also no US military tank is piloted by an officer. Each tank platoon has one officer as the tank commander (that role is handled by staff sergeants for the other three tanks in a platoon). So for every Hisstank driver to be that high up the food chain seems improbable. In addition they are also trained in mechanical and electrical systems so the time for that type of training would be no quick task.
