MY FAVORITE G.I.JOE FROM 1987 – STORY BY MITCHELL SMITH!

Welcome to the Outpost. 1987 is a year a lot of G.I. Joe fans started to loose interest. The original fans were getting older and some did not like the whole Cobra La theme. Then there were those who were just getting interested in G.I. Joe. For me I was just getting rolling. I loved the movie and once again my brothers and I got most of the vehicles and figures from this year. This year I knew what was mine was theirs and what was theirs was mine.
I can’t remember who got what that year we all shared and mostly I was the only one still interested in collecting Joes so they were all really mine. Some of my favorites are Outback, Falcon, and we mailed away for the Fridge. The Ice Viper, Gyro-Viper, and Croc Master were among my favorites for Cobra but the Cobra Commander figure was my favorite. The original Commander was an iconic figure both hooded and helmeted figure were awesome. The 87 figure was completely revamped and Cobra Commander was reinvented.
This is just a cool futuristic uniform that wasn’t over the top. The pack and pistol really rounded him out and makes this one of the coolest Cobra Commanders of all time. Who is you favorite 1987 figure? Make sure to check back for my favorite 1988 figure.
Loved this version of Cobra Commander. Not as much as the Hooded Cobra Commander, but a close second. Great figure.
I always use him in my universe as FRED the imposter, but the figure is really awesome.
