Rediscovering the 1993 V3 Wet-Suit: A Forgotten G.I. Joe Classic with a Removable Helmet

Story By Mitchell Smith

Welcome to The Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at the 1993 V3 Wet-Suit. I had the original 1986 Wet-Suit growing up and he is one of my favorite figures and characters. All around he is a great figure but, a removable helmet would have been awesome. Flash forward to 1993. This was out of my wheelhouse as a kid. Like millions of other kids who had moved their Joes to the attic, the yard sale, or even worse the trash bin we probably didn’t even realize the cool Joes being made in the nineties. Years later we would discover our beloved Wet-Suit would come in a different color scheme that didn’t quite pop like the original but, had a removable helmet.

This right away gave this figure a pop feature. He also came with a cool harpoon rifle and an interesting spring loaded gun that actually functions like a water propelling sled so this is one of the better projectiles that dubs nicely as a vehicle. This figure does have some nice features as well that helps with the overall look and feel of the figure.

I do also like the 2002 figure head sculpt that looks closer to the 1986 un-helmeted Wet-Suit, but the 92 head captures the 90s look so I’m good with that. Overall this is a nice figure and I’m happy I discover him as a collector. Who had this version of Wet-Suit as a kid? Where does he rank in the Wet-Suits for you? Make sure to check back next week for the next discussion at The Outpost.
