Terry Bradshaw: Steelers Legend, Super Bowl Champion, and TV Icon!

Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everybody, today I’m taking a look at long time Pittsburgh Steeler Quarterback and Fox commentator Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw was born ln 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up playing football and dreamed about being in the NFL at a young age. He would go from Woodlawn High in Shreveport, to Louisiana Tech University, and would be drafted by the Steelers in 1970 as the number 1 overall pick.

Bradshaw had a shaky start to his NFL career. He had many shinning moments but was still lacking something. It wasn’t till he had to fight for the starting position in 1974 that Bradshaw started to show why he was drafted number 1 overall. 50 years ago at Super Bowl IX in Louisiana Bradshaw took the field in what would become the Steelers and Bradshaw’s first Super Bowl win, and the start of a dynasty. Bradshaw along side other Steeler greats like Mean Joe Greene, Franco Harris, and Lynn Swan would give the Steelers 4 Super Bowl rings in 1975, 1976, 1979, and 1980.

Bradshaw would retire in 1983 and would go down as one of the all time greatest Steeler players. In 1994 Bradshaw joined the Fox team as a sports analyst and has been entertaining us for over 20 years now. Bradshaw has also appeared in many commercials, TV Shows, and movies over the years. “Smokey and the Bandit”, “Married With Children”, and “The Jeff Foxworthy are just a few of the many appearances he has had. Bradshaw also became the first NFL player to have a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bradshaw has been an entertaining person to watch over is career. I hope we will see many more years from him. Have a great week everyone.
