THE POP EXPOSE ‘Sally Ride Barbie’ By Mitchell Smith!

I recently saw the Sally Ride Barbie at retail, part of the inspiring Women series. I’m not one to collect Barbie, but this one caught my eye on the end cap. So I moved in for a closer inspection. Actually not bad for a Barbie. Some great points of articulation and a really cool helmet that could be swapped over to a 12 inch G.I. Joe. Maybe with a little work you could swap out the hands with some better gripping hands if you wanted to. Over all this one would display well with some Joe’s or other astronauts you may have in your collection.
I’ve always loved the space program. It’s so interesting and people like Sally, who is famous for being the first American Women in space, paved the road to the wonderful world of space exploration today. Space is a mysteries place but thanks to brave astronauts like Sally, we have been able to reach out farther and farther and find worlds much like our own here on Earth. I think the ideal goal is to find alien life, but some of the space phenomenon out there are just mind blowing and defy all that we know here on Earth. The short of it though it is nice that someone like Sally Ride is getting recognition in a manor that will teach young people that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible. Overall this is a nice looking figure.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them make some others such as Christa McAuliffe, who was part of the tragic Challenger disaster in 1986, or Mary Jackson whose story was brought to life by the 2016 movie Hidden Figures. I would love to see more NASA done. Not just Barbie but maybe in G.I. Joe, 12 and/or 3-3/4 inch scale. Not saying it will ever happen but I would love to see G.I. Joe rebooted with a space theme, but that’s a story for another day.
