G.I.Joe ‘Cobra Troopers 82’ Discussion By Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m checking out another original G.I.Joe straight arm figure and original character from 1982. Well actually I’m checking out 2, the Cobra Officer and Cobra Trooper. The original villain for G.I. Joe. This was a trooper with a masked mouth and open eyes. Guess they were ready for Covid. These were a cool design back in the day and even now the new 6 inch Cobra Island soldier has a blue uniform and masked face.

The 82 figure took different parts and made 2 soldiers with a couple different parts and released basically the same figure twice. It was the genius the team had to create many different figures by rearranging body parts and paint schemes. It was a low budget way to create something unique and special. There have been many upgrades to this trooper over the years and they all are very similar. The original design was so good it has survived the stains of time.

There have been many other soldiers made over the years like the Crimson Guard, Ally Viper, and Snow Serpent, but the original figure paved the way for Cobra and all the great figures that followed. They were a staple soldier in the cartoon and gave many Joes a disguise to infiltrate Cobra bases over the years. Who loves the original Cobra Officer and Trooper?
