THE POP EXPOSE ‘Remembering Marty Schottenheimer’ By Mitchell Smith!

Last week we lost a sports icon. Martin Edward Schottenheimer was born Sept 23rd 1943 in Canonsburg, PA. Marti spent 6 years playing in the NFL and coached from 1974 to 2011. 21 of those years he was a head coach in the NFL. Marti was drafted to the Buffalo Bills in 1965 as a linebacker and won the AFL championship with them.
Marty went into coaching in 1974 and landed his first NFL head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns. He spent nearly 10 years at Kansas City, and wrapped up his career at San Diego. He has several coach of the year awards and was inducted into the KC Hall of Fame in 2010. Marti and his wife Pat were married for nearly 55 years and have 2 children together.
Marty has been battling Alzheimer’s disease since his retirement from the NFL. He is a very recognizable person and his legacy will live one through his football accomplishments. Rest in peace Marty, you will be missed by many.
