“Welcome to Wrexham” Documentary Series!

Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everybody today I’m taking a look at the 2022 true documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham”. This is a documentary series about the Wrexham Football club located in Wrexham Wales. Of course here in America we call the sport soccer. The series starts out when Rob McElhenney from “Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia gets an idea he wants to purchase the Wrexham football club”. Wrexham was formed in 1864 by members of the Wrexham cricket club. The team has been a fixture in Wrexham and is the oldest football team in Wales.

The team has not done well over the past couple decades yet the fans are still crazy loyal to their team. It’s kind of like being a Cubs fan here in the US. Any hoot Rob recruits Ryan Reynolds and convinces him to buy the club as his partner. The show goes through the trials and tribulations of them owning the club, to the players, and the loyal fans. I actually have roots in Wales going back to the early 1800’s. I also played soccer in high school and grade school gym class which was where coach Dumas nicknamed me Train because I used to run over the other kids to get the ball.

I definitely was built for football but our school was way too small, so I played what was available. Ryan and Rob gathered many marketing sources to fund the team Including advertising and T-shirts. I’m only in season 1 but I can’t wait to see where this goes. There are 3 seasons and you can check out this true documentary on Disney + and follow the team to see how they are doing. Have a great week everybody.
