Transformers One: Paramount Unveils Animated Origin Story of Optimus Prime and Megatron at Kids’ Choice Awards

At the electrifying Kids’ Choice Awards last night, Paramount Pictures pulled back the curtain on “Transformers One,” an upcoming animated film that delves into the untold backstory of Optimus Prime and Megatron’s once unbreakable bond.
In this exclusive sneak peek (courtesy of SFFGazette.com), we witness the iconic duo, along with other key characters like Orion Pax, D-16, Elita, and Bumblebee, attempting their inaugural transformations—with uproarious results. These mechanical rookies are light-years away from the battle-hardened war machines we’ve come to know from the big screen.
The clip exudes a delightful “Saturday Morning Cartoon” vibe, evoking nostalgia for fans who grew up glued to the animated series. Director Josh Cooley sheds light on the film’s bold choice: opting for cutting-edge computer-generated animation rather than the traditional 2D style that has defined the franchise.
“Given its place in the timeline, there was no need for human characters,” Cooley explains. “The live-action approach didn’t fit. Instead, we immerse ourselves in Cybertron, a world forged entirely from living metal—a place where transformation is second nature. Our characters are sentient robots, and it felt organic to tell their tale through CG animation.”
Cooley’s mission? To blur the lines between reality and animation. As you watch, you’ll momentarily forget you’re witnessing pixels and wires, engrossed in the captivating journey of these mechanized heroes. After all, believability is the ultimate goal.
