Remembering Legendary Voice Actor Peter Renaday!

Story By Mitchell Smith

Today we take a look back at voice actor Peter Renaday, who passed away September 8, 2024. Born Pierre Laurent Renoudet on June 9, 1935, in Louisiana, Peter Renaday began his career in entertainment with stage performances before transitioning into film and television work. He had minor rolls on TV shows and films during the 1960s.

Renaday had appearances in classic TV series such as Star Trek, Batman, and The Twilight Zone. While these roles gave him experience and exposure, it was his transition to voice acting that would define the bulk of his career. Renaday is perhaps best known for his voice acting in Disney productions. He provided the voice for characters in classic attractions like The Haunted Mansion and The Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. In the 1980s and 1990s, Renaday became a fixture in the world of animated television.

He had many minor rolls in series like GI Joe, Smurfs, and Transformers, but he landed one of his biggest rolls in the original TMNT series as Master Splinter. I remember when Turtles first aired. This was such a great original show and Master Splinter was a Mr Miyagi type character. Renaday really brought that character to life and etched his name into the wall of great voice actors. His voice will be missed but not soon forgotten. RIP Mr Renaday.
