Buildings fall, Bruce Wayne rushes into action. There is a feud between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, and Martha Kent tells her son to either “be the hero” … or don’t.
“If you want to talk about the story itself, or the particulars of this movie, it’s based on ideas we had in a room,” Snyder said, but Batman fighting Superman is not new. “I homage a lot to Frank Miller in the movie,” but this is not “Dark Knight Returns.”
Asked about “mecha Batman,” Snyder responded, “It’s a self-preservation concept. It’s not giving him extra strength, but it’s buying him time.”
Following up on the Snyder-directed, Henry Cavill-starring “Man of Steel,” “Batman v. Superman” brings together for the first time on the big screen not only the titular characters but also Wonder Woman. The film explores how the world has changed following Superman’s battle with General Zod and the other Phantom Zone criminals in “Man of Steel,” and sees the Dark Knight — played by Ben Affleck — calling Superman out (likely with his fists) on the destruction and loss of lives that battle caused.
Direct by Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” arrives in theaters March 25, 2016.
