The G.I.Joe Community as a whole has been very concerned about who would step into the Directors position for G.I.Joe 3 following the departure of Jon Chu, today we may know who the man is who will be taking the reigns. Check out the latest on this below and share your thoughts after the JUMP!
Although Paramount has ‘G.I. Joe 3’ slated for a 2016 release date, the upcoming sequel still doesn’t have a director. ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ director Jon M. Chu declined to return for the third installment, and we’d previously heard rumors that ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Green Lantern’ director Martin Campbell was in talks to take over. Today brings another update, as Paramount may have found their man in D.J. Caruso.
Deadline reports that Paramount has entered early talks with Caruso to helm ‘G.I. Joe 3.’ Caruso is known best for directing the Shia LaBeouf thrillers ‘Eagle Eye’ and ‘Disturbia,’ and is currently shooting ‘The Disappointments Room,’ the new drama from writer Wentworth Miller (‘Stoker’). Deadline refers to the talks as “promising,” so perhaps Paramount is finally close to securing a director.
‘G.I. Joe 3′ has a script from ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ writer Evan Daugherty and ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ scribe Jonathan Lemkin. Paramount has slated the film for 2016, although a specific date has yet to be announced. Depending on when they finally hire a director and officially begin production, we’re guessing the sequel could be delayed—particularly if Caruso still needs to finish work on ‘The Disappointments Room.’
It’s unclear who will return to star in ‘G.I. Joe 3,’ but let us know in the comments who you’d like to see return for the sequel.
