Exploring the Origins: A Review of ‘Tails of the Empire,’ the New Star Wars Animated Series

Story by Mitchell Smith

Welcome to Hondo’s Hideout. Today I’m taking a look at the new Star Wars animated series “Tails of the Empire”. This was an interesting series and much like “The Tails of the Jedi”, it is comprised of 6 episodes each about 15 minutes long, but every episode is masterfully done and gives a lot of meat. The episodes follow young Morgan Elsbeth who was introduced last year in the live action series “Ashoka”, and one of my favorite characters going way back, which seems really weird to say way back, to 2002 and “Attack of the Clones”, Barriss Offee.

She later appeared in the Clone Wars and was close friends with Ashoka. The series gives I nice back story to Morgan Elsbeth who I found a bit weak in the Ashoka series, but after this animated series she really started to grow on me. I can’t wait to see more of her in the future. Barriss was always one of my favorite characters, she had a cool name and a cool look.

This series gave a lot of story from young to old. From what I can gather both of these stories along with a few other characters will tie into the Ashoka series which will tie into the Tails of the Jedi, which ties into the whole damn Star Wars universe. I know it is hard to keep it all straight with so much going on in the Star Wars universe right now, but if you liked the Ashoka series be sure to check this out. Make sure to check back in for more Star Wars stories and reviews.
