Ever since their figures were first leaked through Walmart listings, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans have been teeming with speculation over what the Nickelodeon series’ interpretation of classic henchmutants Bebop and Rocksteady would look like. Well, thanks to Playmates’ official website, we may finally know! These two pieces of artwork were recently added to their Nick TMNT character bios:

Yep, there they are! Shredder’s go-to guys from the original ’87 cartoon, reworked for the Nickelodeon show! In terms of design, it seems that they’ll be sticking fairly close to their original counterparts, save for Bebop sporting a more slender build and a cybernetic aesthetic. (His glasses now resembling a Cyclops-esque visor!) There were also two bios with the artwork, so you can check out those below:

“Rocksteady was a short, blond, and burly human thug employed—and mutated—by Shredder. Like his best buddy, Bebop, he appeared in the 1980s TMNT show. During a fracas with the Turtles, Shredder turned these gang members into mutant creatures. Rocksteady became a rhinocerous; he maintained some of his soldierly look by the Army gear he wore. Although larger and stronger, both Bebop and Rocksteady still lacked intelligence and failed to defeat the Turtles in any battle. Their incompetence and goofy behavior overshadowed any advantage they gained from their physical transformation.

Bebop and Rocksteady are names that were taken from music genres. Bebop is a style of jazz while Rocksteady is a Jamaican style of music originating from the late 1960s.”

It’s unknown when they’ll make their animated debut, but they’re expected to make an appearance sometime in Season 2 or 3.
