G.I.Joe

G.I.Joe 1994 Figure Discussion with Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost, Today I’m taking a look at 1994 G.I.Joe and Cobra figures. This is probably the most underrated year and I am only missing a handful from this year. First there are the 30th anniversary figures which are cool, but I’m looking at the regular figures today. There were a few new characters this year and a few updated versions of long standing characters. It was a bumpy road in the nineties with original fans such as myself reaching high school and college.

Management had replaced the original creators and the designs were much different then the original green shirt straight arm figures. I’m a huge Joe fan and I love the line as a whole and take every figure for what they are worth. There were so many great characters that we never got to see in an animated series such as Space Shot, Gears, and Effects. I’m definitely waiting for modern versions of these 3. Also other great Joe versions include Duke, Dial Tone, and Roadblock.

Flint is another Gem that gets overlooked and he goes great with Dusty, Skidmark, and the Desert Fox. I’ll get some picks of that ASAP. There are some really nice Cobra’s from this year as well. There is a cool Ally Viper, Metal Head and Major Bludd. Some of the contraptions were a bit odd but I love this Cobra Commander. Cobra Blackstar is a really cool character you never hear about, but his oversized gun actually looks cool and could be used as a canon. The Shadow Ninjas are cool, I have them all but I got to do some sorting to see if I have weapons. Overall this was a solid year and it was sad to see the line come to an abrupt stop. After a 2 year hiatus Joe did make a rebound and of course the 25th anniversary was a hit and now we enter the 40th anniversary and it’s hard to believe, but I hope to see some Star Brigade and some modern 1994 version figures over the next few years. Who loves 1994 Joes? Which are your favorite? Make sure to check back for our next discussion.
