A Nostalgic Look Back: G.I. Joe Highlights of 2014

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look back at the G.I. Joe’s released in 2014 . I thought this was a bitter sweet year. This was the 50th anniversary year and we got a few good Joes but the best one at retail that I only got recently is Leatherneck. This was a great figure and one of the best modern figures that captured the original magic of Leatherneck. I had the original as a kid and I was excited to finally get this guy. Cobra had a…

Reflecting on GI Joe in 2013: A Retrospective

Story by Mitchell Smith Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look back at G.I. Joe in 2013 as a whole. I thought this was a nice bounce back on the figure end and although the vehicles were almost non existent we were still getting the run off from the past couple years from stores like Marshall’s, Ross, and Ollie’s. There was also that kinda cool Eaglehawk that was straight up re-birthed and renamed Tomahawk. I had the Tomahawk when I was a kid so I did not hesitate…

G.I.Joe 1994 Figure Discussion with Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost, Today I’m taking a look at 1994 G.I.Joe and Cobra figures. This is probably the most underrated year and I am only missing a handful from this year. First there are the 30th anniversary figures which are cool, but I’m looking at the regular figures today. There were a few new characters this year and a few updated versions of long standing characters. It was a bumpy road in the nineties with original fans such as myself reaching high school and college. Management had replaced the…

G.I.Joe ‘Eco Warriors’ Story By Mitchell Smith!

The Eco Warriors are a G.I. Joe sub group created in 1991. I believe the idea was about the battle against bio hazard sludge dumped by factories, which was portrayed by the main Villain Cesspool, who was inadvertently knocked into his own vat of sludge that he intended to use for good, but he was mildly deformed and turned to evil. Flint was the Eco leader and Ozone and Clean Sweep were two original characters created for the 91 lineup. I like the concept and design for these 3 characters.…
