G.I. Joe Underappreciated Featuring ‘Skidmark’!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a G.I. Joe figure from 1988 who I think gets a bad wrap from his name. When I see Skidmark I think back to my childhood when we would ride our bikes really fast and see who could make the longest skid on my dirt driveway. Later we would see who could do it on the paved road with a car, which my father was not a fan of and probably made us pay for new tires so we wouldn’t do that any longer. What other people may think of is a mark left in ones undershorts left by not thoroughly taking care of business.

If you read Skidmarks file card you would see he would not let this happen as he is very proper, well groomed and may have some OCD, especially when it comes to the cleanliness of his vehicle the Desert Fox and his personal living space. I have heard some complaints over the years of the orange helmet and vest, which the modern version Treadmark (which just sounds odd to me), looks like the vest comes off so he just has a green shirt, but like the original figure this should have had a removable helmet.

I’m still bitter Hasbro went to exclusive overpriced figures that were cheaply done. The modern version would have been a great figure to pick up a couple at retail and customize into the figure we should have gotten. Overall Skidmark is a solid figure that comes with an awesome vehicle. I’ve swapped out a head to bring him a little more to life. Who loves Skidmark? Who liked Treadmark better?
