Get the skinny on ba na na errr ‘Minions’!
Millions and Millions of years ago Minions were encased in Amber and…no wait that is not it. We start with evolution, from microscopic minion forms, we get underwater aquatic life. As time goes on the minions keep searching for their master. The Big Boss, T rex, Caveman, the Egyptians, and more are prone to be destroyed by some clumsy act of a minion. Dracula was 356 and a great boss for the Minions until his 357th Birthday.
There are many Minions, this tale centers on Kevin, Stuart, and Bob. The three set off on a quest, a quest to find a new Boss. So, they wind up in New York in 1968, which coincidentally is also the era of most of the soundtrack.
The Beatles even have a cameo once things reach London., something older fans like oh parents and grandparents would get but a kid would not. Stuart is the musician, he loves his “ukelele” Bob is the animal lover. Kevin is the leader.
You will get to know their names well and who is who because like a WWE show mentioning Wrestlemania every minute for 90 minutes, you will hear each of their names often.
The supporting characters are quite entertaining.
They come from where else? Villain Con in Orlando. The Minions watch TV in a department store and when the Dating Game snows out of focus one of them becomes an antenna.
He does not find the dating game though, he discovers a secret criminal broadcast inviting everyone to Villain Con.
Here we are introduced to Scarlet and how she is the biggest criminal mastermind around.
The Minions know their journey now. Off to Florida.
The Minions win a contest to become Scarlet Overkill’s new uhhh Minions. Off to London to steal the Queen’s crown.
The Minions save the day and the crown amidst many many…many sight gags and mentions of bananas.
So if you like French films, bananas, and can stand to listen to a Minion for over an hour, then you will peel this open and devour it like a ripe banana. If not, then at least Norbert will make you chuckle. As Kevin would say, Ba naaaa na!
