What kind of Alfred Pennyworth are we going to see in the new Batman vs. Superman movie? Well, according to actor Jeremy Irons who is taking on the role, he is going to be a ‘grease monkey’. Does that seem right to you as a fan? Find out more of what Jeremy Irons has to say about playing Alfred Pennyworth in the news below, and share your thoughts after the JUMP! Batman vs. Superman opens March 25, 2016.
Over the decades, we’ve seen a handful of actors play Alfred Pennyworth. Each of them put their own spin on Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, so don’t expect Jeremy Iron’s version in Batman v Superman to let Vicki Vale into the Batcave or tattle on Master Dick for taking the Batmobile on a joyride or even berate his push-up obsessed employer for not being able to lift a bloody log.
“Alfred is a lot more hands-on in our film than he has previously been,” Irons told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s a bit of a grease monkey, and he’s very involved in the decisions Bruce makes.”
Sounds like Alfred will be spending time in the Batcave working on the new and improved Batmobile. Though, I would have preferred them using a character like Earl Cooper (voiced by Paul Winfield), who designed and maintained the Batman’s vehicles in Batman: The Animated Series.
In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
