John Malkovich Set to Star in ‘The Fantastic Four’

John Malkovich, known for his recent role in “The New Look,” is slated to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Deadline. He has been cast in the upcoming film “The Fantastic Four.”

Malkovich’s specific role remains undisclosed, similar to the recent casting of Paul Walter Hauser, with details about the film’s plot also under wraps. The movie’s cast features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing). Julia Garner has also joined the cast as Shalla-Bal, a variation of Silver Surfer.

The film is directed by Matt Shakman of “WandaVision” fame, with a script penned by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, and additional contributions from Peter Cameron. Produced by Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios, “The Fantastic Four” is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025.

Malkovich, a two-time Oscar nominee, was last seen in Apple TV+’s drama series “The New Look” opposite Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche. He also appeared in Netflix’s “Ripley” and has had roles in Showtime’s “Billions” and Netflix’s “Space Force,” among other indie films.

Next, Malkovich will appear in Julian Schnabel’s “Hand of Dante,” A24’s horror film “Opus” with Ayo Edebiri, and “The Yellow Tie,” a biopic about Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache. He is represented by WME.
