Neill Blomkamp Officially Directing ‘Alien 5’!

Following weeks of speculation and buzz around his Alien sequel concept art hitting the web, Chappie / District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp has officially announced via his own personal Instagram account that he will be in fact directing an Alien sequel as his next film! It seems 20th Century Fox were intrigued enough by his concepts to offer him the job and most fans are thrilled by the decision!
With Fox planning a follow up to 2012’s Prometheus slated for a March 2016 release date, it’s likely we could see Blomkamp’s Alien movie as early as 2017. Whether or not this new Alien film will tie into Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2 has yet to be decided, but according to previous statements, Blomkamp already has a script written and ready to go, which means production will likely begin this year.
It’s a good time tobe a fan of AvP, as Shane Black’s Predator sequel is also in the pipeline. That’s new Alien, Predator and Prometheus movies in the works, helmed by directors worthy of carrying on the legacy.
