Production Commences for Superman & Lois Series Finale, Unveils Title

Elizabeth Tulloch, renowned for her role as Lois Lane in Superman & Lois, has heralded the commencement of filming for the beloved DC superhero series’ final episode.

Taking to Instagram, Tulloch shared the onset of production for the series finale, titled “It Went By So Fast.” Penned by Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing, with direction by Gregory Smith, the announcement was met with anticipation from fans.

“Attempting a typical ‘First day of filming the #SupermanAndLois series finale!’ selfie, only to find myself overwhelmed with emotion. What an incredible journey it has been,” expressed Tulloch in the caption of her Instagram post. “I’m profoundly grateful, especially to our dedicated crew – this concluding season has presented physical and emotional challenges for everyone, and I truly appreciate your unwavering dedication.”

She further elaborated on her decision to tag co-star Tyler Hoechlin exclusively in a subsequent photo, revealing his poignant words as the catalyst for her emotional response. “@trishymakeup’s got her work cut out for her today, with my tear-stained makeup, all thanks to you.”

Superman & Lois: The CW’s Culmination of DC Superhero Sagas

The impending conclusion of Superman & Lois marks the culmination of nearly two decades of DC superhero narratives on The CW. Developed by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, the series centers on Clark Kent (Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Tulloch) as they navigate parenthood in Smallville, raising their twin sons Jonathan (Michael Bishop) and Jordan (Alex Garfin). While initially conceived as part of the Arrowverse, the decision was made during Season 2 to establish the show in its own narrative realm, affording creators greater storytelling latitude.

As The CW transitions under new ownership following its third season, Superman & Lois faces a reduced budget for its final installment. Consequently, the ensemble cast has been streamlined from 12 to five, with Hoechlin, Tulloch, Bishop, Garfin, and Michael Cudlitz (Lex Luthor) comprising the series regulars.

Notwithstanding the budget constraints, the show introduces new additions to its cast, with Yvonne Chapman and Douglas Smith joining in recurring roles as Amanda McCoy and Jimmy Olsen, respectively. Chapman’s character, Amanda McCoy, is portrayed as a member of “Luthor’s inner circle,” while Smith’s Jimmy Olsen embodies an outgoing persona, renowned for infusing life into the office environment.

Superman & Lois Season 4 is slated to premiere on The CW in the fall of 2024, promising a fitting conclusion to the revered superhero saga.
