News has been circling the internet today that one of the locations being considered for the Avengers 2 could in fact be Cape Town, South Africa…which would be a perfect back drop for Black Panthers homeland Wakanda. This may not surprise some since fans have already been treated to a few Black Panther easter eggs in both Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger. Not only that, there was the rumor that Marvel contacted actor Morris Chestnut regarding the role when Chestnut tweeted “It’s time to get familiar with the Black Panther character!” with a cover photo of the Marvel hero. Sure, all speculation as of now,but isn’t that part of the fun? Avengers 2 has a target theatrical release on May 1st 2015, so plenty of time to wait and see.

There has been a ton of smoke when it comes to speculation that Black Panther is going to make an appearance in the next AVENGERS film:
1. There have already been some hints in previous Marvel films.
2. We know Marvel has already been in contact with actors regarding the role.
So to me it is not a matter of if Marvel is going to use Black Panther in their cinematic universe, but when. Well I think that the mystery has been solved, as Black Panther couldn’t have a higher profile debut than in the sequel to the second highest grossing film of all time (unless he shows up in AVATAR 2).
Here is some more smoke to add to the speculation, Bleeding Cool has a report that Marvel is interested in filming at least some of AVENGERS 2 in Cape Town, South Africa. South Africa is often used to imitate Wakanda, Black Panther’s fictional homeland. South Africa is also the setting for a lot of Black Panther’s adventures.
Obviously Marvel wants to have some of their lesser known characters be a part of the PHASE III universe and will probably use AVENGERS 2 to establish them for their own future solo films. There are already strong rumors that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be joining The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and it appears that Black Panther will as well. How they are going to give everyone a satisfying amount of screen time is beyond me but if anyone can do it, Joss Whedon can.
