Snake Eyes Star Drops Bombshell: Paramount’s Mega Plans for G.I. Joe Revealed!

Snake Eyes lead actor Henry Golding recently divulged Paramount Pictures‘ extensive strategies for the G.I. Joe franchise, hinting at significant developments following last year’s Transformers tease.
Snake Eyes aimed to kickstart the G.I. Joe series in 2021 but fell short, disappointing audiences with its portrayal of the titular character and supporting cast. Despite its lackluster performance at the global box office, hopes were reignited by the conclusion of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, setting the stage for a long-awaited collaboration between Autobots, Decepticons, and the iconic G.I. Joe characters. While this crossover has thrived in comic book form, it might be the saving grace for the struggling G.I. Joe film saga. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Henry Golding shared his insights into the franchise’s future amidst recent setbacks. Golding expressed confidence in producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s vision, teasing that Paramount harbors ambitious plans that blend the franchise’s past successes with future endeavors.
“I mean, Lorenzo di Bonaventura is a busy man and a phenomenal producer, and it’s in safe hands,” Golding teases. “Whatever happens, I think it’s going to be a combination of what has come and what is to come. I think Paramount have some grand, grand plans.”
Di Bonaventura previously shed light on Paramount’s narrative-focused approach to integrating these beloved characters, emphasizing that the Joes will seamlessly join the Transformers universe rather than coalesce with it. The prospect of this crossover presents a glimmer of hope for fans, though the success of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts at the box office remains uncertain. The potential collaboration could mark a pivotal moment for these characters on the big screen, making it a make-or-break opportunity for the franchise’s theatrical future.
“I don’t look at things like a universe, I look at them as a story and [the Joes] will be a part of the story. I also think the term ‘crossover’ means different things for different people,” the veteran producer explained. “For me, the Joes, whoever they are, are entering the world of Transformers, not combining the two worlds.”
“The plan is to eventually do [a crossover]. But, for the next movie, it’s the Joes that are coming in for whatever the ending of Rise of the Beasts has led us to believe is possible.”
“Oh, they will interact. We haven’t developed a script yet though,” Di Bonaventura added. “What I will say is just like we do with every other movie, it will be a team of Transformers and humans fighting the fight. The Joes will be a part of that.”
