Superman: Legacy Set to Kickstart Filming Next Week, Warner Bros. CEO Confirms Amid Studio Optimism

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced during the Q4 earnings call that filming for “Superman: Legacy,” the much-anticipated DCU reboot, is officially scheduled to begin next week. This news follows director James Gunn’s sneak peek at the main cast after their inaugural table read. Despite acknowledging the studio’s recent performance challenges, Zaslav expressed optimism for “Legacy” and the future of the DCU.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, echoed these sentiments, citing “challenges” particularly in the superhero genre, despite last year’s mixed success. The upcoming “Superman: Legacy” features David Corenswet as Superman, with a new Kingdom Come-inspired costume, and stars Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Isabela Merced, and more in key roles. The film promises to delve into Superman’s dual identity and introduce a slew of other superheroes, potentially setting the stage for a new dynamic within the DCU. Gunn aims to establish “Superman: Legacy” as a cornerstone for the evolving DC Universe across various media. Superman Legacy hits theaters July 11, 2025. Are you excited for this movie?
