The POP-EXPOSE

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Remembering Alex Trebek’ By Mitchell Smith!

I’ll take game show hosts for $100.00

This person spent 37 seasons on the same game show and will be missed dearly.

Who is Alex Trebek?

Alex Trebek was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1940 and passed away this month on the 8th. He was the face of one of the most popular game shows in history, Jeopardy. Anyone growing up in the 80s knew Bob Barker was the host of the Price is Right, Pat Sajak hosted Wheel of Fortune, and Alex Trebek hosted Jeopardy. These have been popular game shows for many decades. Along with the show there are many board games and trivia nights based on the show. Weird Al had a hit back in the mid-80s called “I Lost on Jeopardy”. SNL also has the long running Celebrity Jeopardy where Will Ferrell plays Alex Trebek.

I think it would be great to have one last Celebrity Jeopardy in heaven, with Alex Trebek, Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds, and maybe toss in a Chris Farley to round out things. Trebek has been on SNL with Ferrell as well. It’s hard to imaging Jeopardy without Alex hosting the show. He just has been the face and voice for so long it will be strange to see him gone. His first job was at the age of 13. He was a bellhop at a hotel his father worked at.

He also was one of the runners to carry the 1996 Olympic torch on its way to Atlanta. Trebek owned a farm for a good number of years where he trained race horses. Trebek hosted other game shows such as The Wizard of Odds, High Rollers, and one of my favorites growing up Double Dare. I believe he lived a good life and announced on Jeopardy that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was positive and was ready to fight. Sadly he lost the battle and the world will miss him, but he will not soon be forgotten. RIP Alex Trebek. Join in the conversation AFTER THE JUMP!
