X-Men ’97 Ignites Excitement with Fresh Looks and High Stakes in New Episode 9 Preview

Marvel Animation has recently released a preview for the next-to-last episode of ‘X-Men ’97,’ titled “Tolerance Is Extinction – Part 2.” This follows the eventful eighth episode, the first in a three-part series finale, which was filled with hidden references. In the latest clip, Charles Xavier reunites with his team, trying to persuade the President that the X-Men are crucial in preventing chaos. President Kelly cautions that failure might lead to drastic measures, but Xavier remains committed to his moral path, regardless of the risks.

The video also reveals the X-Men in new attire, including Wolverine’s brown and yellow spandex, Jean Grey’s mask, and Storm’s crown, a shift from their traditional blue and yellow uniforms. The clip humorously nods to the first X-Men film, referencing a line about Wolverine’s outfit preference. This sneak peek also portrays the team visibly shaken by the threat of Bastion’s new Sentinels.

‘X-Men ’97’ has been well-received, scoring 98% from critics and 94% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Brad Winderbaum, Head of Television and Streaming at Marvel Studios, mentioned that fans could expect at least two more seasons, with production on Season 3 already underway, promising shorter waits between seasons.

The dismissal of writer and showrunner Beau DeMayo just before the season’s premiere has left an open spot for Season 2’s leadership. Despite recent setbacks with other projects, ‘X-Men ’97’ has restored some of Marvel’s favorable reputation. This series might set the tone for how mutants will be integrated into the MCU’s live-action projects moving forward.

The first eight episodes of ‘X-Men ’97’ are available on Disney+
