G.I.Joe ‘2009 Vehicles’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!

Welcome to the Outpost. Today we are discussing 2009 G.I.Joe vehicles. This was a pretty good year. There were some great vehicles on top of a live action movie: “The Rise of Cobra.” This led to many vehicles being released this year. First up from the Rise of Cobra line is the Armored Panther. This is a version of the Armadillo and looks pretty cool. The Crimson Hydra is a cool red version of the 2003 Sky Sweeper. The Cobra Gunship is one I have and looks like a helicopter with no rotors. The Mantis Attack craft is the 2003 Sting Raider. I’m not sure if it was retooled for 25th style figures, but it looks pretty cool. I did not get this one. I did get an Ice Dagger though. This one is like the Ice Saber. It’s no Snow Cat (which is my favorite snow vehicle), but this one is really cool and holds a lot of figures. Next up is the Mole Pod. I’m not sure where this one ranks but Cobra used the boring machines quite frequently so I’m surprised it took this long to make something like this, but I do have one and I think it is awesome.

The Snarler Cycle is a cool motor cycle with a side cart. I remember passing on this one but I wish I had picked one up now. The Snake Trax is a Cobra Ferret. I took off the giant gun and it looks great. The Rockslide is a snowmobile. This is a cool vehicle and I ended up with a few of these. One I got was with the 2 pack that also came with a Polar Battle Bear. Both are very nice. The Sky Sweeper is a blue and white Firebat. I love this version of this vehicle. The Dragonhawk was meant to be a modern Dragonfly, but let’s face it who can compete with that. I love this one, I bought 2 and still have 1 sealed. The Steel Crusher is a cool vehicle. I have one of these and it looks pretty bad ass. The Night Raven is one I bought and got a second one in a collection I bought. This is cool and can be held like a real gun. It fires missiles and also has added sound features, but the original will always be better. The Rhino is an awesome vehicle. I do have one and I love this one. The Pit Mobile Command Center is another vehicle I got in a collection and my son loves this one. It looks cool, but I have never used it for display. There was a number of regular retail vehicles.

The Arctic Hiss is one I don’t have and this one is really cool. The Cobra Stinger is another I did not find and this is true to the classic 1984 version. The Ghost Hawk is a straight remake of the 1984 Sky Hawk, but this came with the classic 1986 style Lift Ticket. I did pick this one up and both are awesome. The Sting Raider is another remake of the classic Water Moccasin. I thought I had this one but I think I missed out on it as I can’t find it. The Python Patrol Conquest is one I had a chance to get on clearance and passed on it. I do have an original one though. The Tiger Rat another remake of the original and I did not find this one at retail (big crocodile tears). The 2 pack Flak and red Claw was one released limited and had the white t-shirt version of Outback. If you were lucky enough to get this one, then yes you are very lucky.

There were a number of Target exclusives. The black Air Assault, Black Cobra Claw, Arashikage cycle white and black versions, The Wave Crusher, The Dragonfish, and The Serpent Armor. These were are small vehicles and I was able to get a couple of the Serpent Armors. Over all these are all pretty cool vehicles. Wal-Mart also had a fair share of exclusives. The Heetseek Missile System which I did get and it would have went nice with a modern Stinger. The Laser Artillery Weapon is a cool classic remake. Same with the Outpost Defender, which I was able to get this one. The Surveillance Port is another classic I did not find, but I have an original. Both are very nice. Ninja Battles is a reissued 2005 Arashikage platform. I love it and is great for displaying figures. Sam’s club had 2 exclusive. A 2 pack Rockslide and Mole Pod. It also had an Armored Panther and Snake Tracks. I did not get these. There were also 3 Convention exclusive this year. The Commandos Helicoptero, The Crimson Command Copter, and The SAF Copter. All of these were pretty cool looking but I don’t have any of them. 2009 was in full gear with the movie and with some awesome 25th style figures and vehicles.
