By Serpentor’s Lair Editorial Staff | October 15, 2026 There is a question hanging over the G.I. Joe community that nobody at Hasbro can answer with a sales chart: When G.I. Joe grew from 3¾ inches to six inches, did the figures become better—or did the experience become smaller? Before the torches come out, this is not another article telling Classified collectors they are somehow less devoted to G.I. Joe. That would be ridiculous. Some of the most passionate fans in the hobby build spectacular Classified displays, take extraordinary toy…

For more than 40 years, the G.I. Joe MOBAT has been one of the most recognizable military vehicles in action figure history. But what if this legendary 1980s toy has been hiding a secret right in front of our eyes? If you grew up collecting G.I. With its imposing cannon, motorized movement, and battlefield presence, it looked like the ultimate weapon for taking down Cobra. But just how effective was this iconic tank? Was it…

There was a time when being a kid meant Saturday morning cartoons, wrestling on television, action figures scattered across the floor, and entire adventures built with nothing more than imagination. For those of us who grew up in that world, very few people ever managed to step through all of those doors at once. Sgt. Slaughter did. So today, on your 78th birthday, Sarge, this isn’t simply a look back at a wrestling career or a famous G.I. Joe character. This is a thank-you letter from a generation of kids…

For many fans who grew up in the 1980s, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero and Star Trek: The Next Generation occupied completely different corners of their imagination. One was a world of laser fire, masked villains, and elite special missions. The other explored diplomacy, exploration, and humanity’s future among the stars. Yet, thanks to two legendary performers, those worlds became more connected than most fans ever realized. The bridge between Cobra Island and the USS Enterprise wasn’t built with phasers or F.A.N.G. helicopters. It was built by Chris Latta…

Long before Duke shouted, “Yo Joe!” and Cobra Commander began screeching about world domination, many of the voices behind G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero had already saved—or threatened—the world on Super Friends. This was not simply a case of two cartoons hiring one or two of the same performers. The recording booths of Super Friends became something of a training ground for an entire generation of voice actors who later gave G.I. Joe its personality, humor and larger-than-life sense of adventure. The most recognizable connection may be Michael Bell.…

Memorial Day is a time to honor sacrifice, courage, and the heroes who gave everything in service to others. While most people associate those themes with real-world military history, one comic book issue unexpectedly captured the emotional weight of sacrifice better than almost any other in the history of licensed comics: G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #109. Released in 1991 by Marvel Comics, “Death in the Desert” stunned longtime readers by killing off several beloved Joe team members in one brutal mission gone wrong. Interview By Serpentorslair Staff The year was 1983. The Cold War simmered on the evening news, Return of the Jedi was wrapping up its run in theaters, and a seven-year-old boy stood wide-eyed in the toy aisle of a department store, holding his first G.I. Joe figure—Destro. He couldn’t have known it then, but that moment would ignite a lifelong passion. For me, G.I. Joe was never just a toy line—it was a universe. A place where heroes were clearly defined, villains were theatrical and dangerous, and every battle felt…
