THE POP-EXPOSE – ‘Remembering Betty White’ Story by Mitchell Smith!

Happy New Year everyone. It is with a second heavy heart this week I write about another Icon. Betty White was born January 17, 1922 in Oak Park, IL. Betty sadly passed before reaching the 100 mark. For the past 10 years Betty has made no lie about her age and being blessed to be in her nineties and blessed to be healthy. One statement she made was “ I didn’t ask to be Ninety it just happened.” I had been thinking of a story to write about Betty since I saw her documentary “Betty White, First Lady of Television.”

She had a remarkable life and career. If you watch clips of award ceremonies and talk shows, Betty was a brilliant comic. Even at 99 she was sharp, funny, and relevant as any comedian in today’s world. Betty of course was a huge part of the success of the sitcom “Hot in Cleveland”, she hosted SNL in 2015, and was a staple in everyone’s household as Rose on the hit sitcom from 1985 “The Golden Girls”, one of my favorite shows growing up. Betty made a number of appearances in tv shows like That 70’s show and Mama’s Family. She also made appearances in animated shows like Sponge Bob and Family Guy. The list goes back many decades, The Mary Tyler More Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and one of her first show, Life with Elizabeth. Betty also worked on the big screen in movies such as upcoming release Betty White 100 Years Young, Toy Story, Lorax, Lake Placid, Dennis the Menace, and her first film in 1945 Time to Kill.

You could dedicate a whole year to watch everything she has done over the past 9 decades. On top of her busy career she had a passion for animals. She even had a brown bear friend who can be seen in here 2018 documentary. Betty is a TV icon and will truly be missed by so many who worked with her, most recently Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, and Conan O’Brien all loved her dearly. Betty has left her mark on the world and she will live on with her countless works. Betty was truly one of a kind and touched so many lives, RIP you truly have earned it.
