“Taylor Momsen: From Child Star to Rock Queen – A Journey Through Fame, Gossip Girl, and The Pretty Reckless”

Hello everybody. Hope you all enjoyed the holiday. Today I’m taking a look at Taylor Momsen and her life growing up in the spotlight. Momsen who was born in 1993 in St Louis was a child model at age 2 and was the cute little 3 year old in a Shake ‘N Bake commercial. Her first big roll came in the 2000 Live action movie of the classic Christmas Cartoon by Dr Seuss “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. She starred as Cindy Lou Who along side Jim Carrey. In an interview with Jay Leno the 7 year old talked about Carrey on set being a nice and funny guy. You could see Momsen was very smart as she charmed Leno with humor and wit. From 2007-2012 Momsen played Jenny Humphrey on the CW show “Gossip Girl”.

Momsen had a second passion where she started a Rock and Roll band called The Pretty Reckless. In August of 2010 during a huge pop laden era due to shows like American Idol and The Voice, Momsen found it difficult to launch a Rock band. That was her primary influence though, as she grew up listening to bands like The Beatles, AC/DC, and Neil Young. Even though it was a struggle she did not give up on her passion. Momsen who writes all her own songs plays hard rock, alternative rock, blues rock, and post grunge music. Their first album Light Me Up is really good. They have some great hits like “Take Me Down”, Going to Hell, and the hit off their 4th album released in 2021 “Death by Rock and Roll”. They also do a cool cover of Champagne Supernova by Oasis and Seven Army Nation by The White Stripes. T

he Pretty Reckless became the first female-fronted band to have 5 number 1 hits on the charts. Listening to Momsen in an interview she seems really down to Earth, appreciative of her fans, and has a genuine passion to write and perform Rock and Roll. I can’t wait to whats next for this talented young artist. They will be launching their Other Worlds Tour in 2024, I hope they come to my area, this is a show I would definitely go see. Have a great week everyone.
