Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everybody today I’m taking a look back at a Hollywood legend. June Lockhart was born in 1925 in New York City and passed away October 23, 2025. Lockhart was born into Hollywood as both her parents were actors. In 1938 Lockhart made her film debut as Belinda Cratchit in the film adaptation of “ A Christmas Carol”. Lockhart was also a part in the 1944 classic, “Meet Me in St. Louis”. Lockhart also had parts in films like “Son of Lassie” and “She-Wolf of London”.

She worked right up till 2019 in film, but Lockhart didn’t have 2 Hollywood stars for nothing as she captured the hearts of viewers for over 70 years. From Lockhart’s tv debut in 1949 in “The Ford Theater Hour”, to 2021 in her last performance as the voice of Alpha Control in “Lost in Space”, she has filled the screen with so many memorable rolls over the years. In her early years she had many rolls in shows like “Gunsmoke”, and “Wagon Train”, but her big break came as Ruth Martin on “Lassie”. From 1965 to 1970 Lockhart landed two main rolls in “Lost in Space” and “Petticoat Junction”. Over the next several decades Lockhart would make appearances on shows like Happy Days, Magnum P.I., Knots Landing, Murder She Wrote, Full House, Babylon 5, Ren and Stimpy, Roseanne, Step by Step, 7th Heaven, Beverly Hills 90210, Drew Carey, and Grey’s Anatomy to name a few. In 2013 NASA gave her an award for inspiring the public about space exploration. At 100 years Lockhart lived an extraordinary life and passed away at home from natural causes. June’s daughter Anne Lockhart also got into acting to carry on the family legacy.

June Lockhart touched the hearts of so many friends, family, and fans alike over the years. She will be missed dearly but her legacy will be forever etched into the walls of Hollywood for all the great performances she has given over the years. Rest in Peace June Lockhart.
