G.I. Joe Outpost Spotlight: The 1984 Watch Tower & Lost Art of Small Playsets

Story By Mitchell Smith
Welcome to The Outpost. Throughout the eighties Hasbro put out a ton of small play sets that were really cool. I’m still not sure why Hasbro today has not tapped into the smaller more affordable play sets and accessories packs like a firing range or Bivouac for the Classified. The 1984 Watch Tower is also one that is relatively simple and would give a really cool scenery set to display and capture pics for the Classified Joes. As simple as the 1984 Watch Tower is, it really has a lot of nice detail that makes this piece fun to set up some Joes on watch.
My tower is a little incomplete, but I’m pretty sure I have the rest of the pieces somewhere tucked away in a bin. All and all this is a really fun small set that doesn’t take up a lot of room but can really make your dio pics pop. Make sure to check back next week for the next discussion at The Outpost.
