Eddie Murphy Returns in New ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Trailer

After nearly 30 years, Eddie Murphy is set to hit the streets of California once more. Netflix has released a trailer for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, marking the return of Detroit detective Axel Foley. This time, Foley is older, wiser, and sharper than ever as he embarks on a new, personal mission. The trailer features familiar faces and new allies, all united to protect his family against a formidable new enemy, all set to that classic synth soundtrack.
While the initial trailer emphasized Axel F’s signature action and humor, this latest preview delves deeper into the plot. When his daughter Jane (Taylour Paige) finds herself in danger, Axel is determined to uncover the conspiracy threatening her life. California has changed significantly since his last visit, and Axel finds himself as much out of place as ever. Joining him in this investigation are the tough detective Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton).
Eddie Murphy’s portrayal of Axel Foley is iconic, propelling him to stardom and remaining a fan favorite. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F aims to introduce the next generation, with Paige stepping into a significant role as Foley’s daughter. Director Mark Molloy recognized the challenge of introducing a new character with such a beloved predecessor but believed Paige was perfect for the part, noting her infectious energy and ability to match Murphy’s charisma.
The film also sees the return of Paul Reiser as Jeffery Friedman and Bronson Pinchot as Surge. Newcomers include Kevin Bacon, who will portray Grant, the captain of the Beverly Hills Police Department. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has also returned to help bring this long-awaited sequel to life after numerous attempts dating back to the 90s.
