G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILECARDS FEATURING SNOW SERPENT AND EEL!

Story by Staff Writer Shaft

Cobra Polar Assault specialists, the Snow-Serpents, are listed as “Arctic Operations” as their PMS and “Infantry” as their SMS. Their filecard indicates they are Cobra Eels but with additional training that include cold weather training, use of snow shoes, skis and kayaks and airborne training. If Cobra Eels are the equivalent of US Navy SEALS then I would liken Snow Serpents to SEAL Team 2, which its members are more focused on cold weather training. However SEAL Team 2 (as all other SEAL Teams) do not just focus on one area of the environment or method of insertion, but rather are also Airborne-qualified and fight in every environment. I picture the Snow Serpents as still being combat-diver qualified and also engaging in missions that are not just “arctic” or “cold weather”. To me this is a huge waste of an elite unit. Snow Serpent’s would also fight in other environments and be able to insert into a missions via water (combat diving), air (parachuting), helicopter, etc.

Also I picture ALL Eels as being airborne-qualified and not just specifically the Snow Serpents. This is a requirement with the US Navy SEALS so I would think this basic military skill would be required of all Eels as well. This would just be static-line jumping and not military free-fall (MFF) of HALO and HAHO. Those Eels training in MFF would be considered the “Para-Vipers”. But I am sure some Snow Serpents also attend MFF training as well. Does that make them a Snow Serpent or a Para-Viper?
