“Jingle All the Way: Exploring Timeless and Unconventional Christmas Songs”

Hello everybody. Today I’m sticking with the Christmas theme and taking a look at some cool holiday songs. Over the years there have been many songs created and many songs covered for the holiday. Not all are Christmas songs like Adam Sandler’s Happy Hanukkah. This is a great song and a pioneer that opened people’s minds to enjoying and embracing different holiday traditions. The 12 Days of a Christmas by Straight No Chaser is a great new twist on a holiday classic.

This is a great version of this song not to be confused with another masterful twist with The 12 Pains of Christmas by Bob Rivers. This is such a great song about everything we go through leading up to that 1 magical day. There are a bunch more classics we don’t miss like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Springsteen’s rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. There have also been some really cool covers like Run Rudolph Run originally by Chuck Berry, but Lemmy Kilmister, Dave Grohl, and Billy Gibbons did a great grunge cover of an awesome song.

The little Drummer Boy was originally from 1941, and has been covered by many artists including the late great Johnny Cash, but King and Country killed it with their modern version of this holiday classic. Father Christmas is an original by the Kinks and one I catch around this time of year. It’s a bit of a dark take on Christmas but very catchy. Finally not a song but what would a Christmas be without hearing Cheech and Chong’s Santa Clause. Hope you can enjoy all of these and many more this season. Have a great week everyone.
