It looks like Actor Liam Hemsworth is seriously being considered to play Wonder Woman’s Love interest in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie from Warner Brothers. Check out the latest on this below, and share your thoughts after the JUMP!
Now that Scott Eastwood is most likely out of the running for a lead role, Wonder Woman may give us the battle of the brothers I never knew I wanted, but now desperately need.
Liam Hemsworth has reportedly tested for the role of Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman, the male lead alongside Gal Gadot.
Steve Trevor, a United States Air Force pilot, is the primary love interest for Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. In the most likely telling we’ll see onscreen, his plane crash lands on her island, Themyscira (or Paradise Island), where Diana resides with her fellow Amazons. They begin an enduring relationship that ranges from rescue to romance, and he should play a major role in the film.
Now that Patty Jenkins has replaced Michelle MacLaren as director, film reporter Jeff Sneider claims that it’s unlikely that they will return to Liam to test.
However, if Jenkins turns down this casting choice, she misses our first opportunity to have the Hemsworth name behind major movies from both DC and Marvel. Of course, Liam’s brother Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s had no qualms about rubbing his status into Liam’s face (namely, by interrupting his interviews).
Now, Liam may have a shot to spar right back. This is the kind of sibling rivalry that audiences want to see! Imagine the behind-the-scenes potential with Chris crashing the set or any convention where the two may find each other.
Let’s also not forget that Patty Jenkins was originally lined up to direct Thor 2 before she was ousted over creative differences. After already making the hop from Marvel to DC, casting Thor’s younger brother in her new movie could send a strong message.
No matter your allegiance, if this friendly competition does come to blows, let’s see how the two brothers stack up against each other.
