Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power!

Hello everybody, today I’m taking a look at the Lord of the Rings series “The Rings of Power” steaming on Prime. The show is a prequel to Lord of the Rings and even before The Hobbit. It takes the opening scene of LOTRs “Fellowship of the Rings”, and elaborates on the times of Isildur before he battles Sauron for the One Ring. Isildur is played by Maxim Baldry, along side Morfydd Clark who does a wonderful job expanding who Galadriel is and how important she is the the LOTR story.
While the series itself is mostly a fresh take on existing characters such as Galadriel, Elrond, and Sauron, it does have a LOTR feel to it. Although the series has many characters and the storyline of the LOTR and Hobbit, Amazon does not have rights to Tolkiens Silmarillion, so for any diehard LOTR fans you may be able to pick this apart, but I think for someone like me who first learned about the LOTR in the movie theater when I watched a trailer for it at the Phantom Menace you will like this series. I think if you go into the series with an open mind you will enjoy it if you like Peter Jackson’s version of LOTR and the Hobbit.
Myself I just finished season 1 from 2022 and started season 2 which was released August 29, 2024. I have found them entertaining and worth a look. There are some slow spots but like anything else there will be good and bad with anything.
